It's drop off time at the Mission Training Center (MTC) in Provo, UT. It was chilly, drizzling snow but the Spirit was there in abundance. It was kind of a surreal thing. For those that don't know, when you are dropping you missionary off, it is literally that - you drop them off. See, back in the day, family members would go inside with the missionary, sit through a presentation about missionary work, sing the awesome "Called to Serve". After that missionaries would leave out of one set of doors and the family would leave out of another. I had that experience when my brother Matthew went on his mission. And of course every person in the room in bawling their face off! But back to these days…you pull up to the gate, there is a lovely missionary greeter there who asks if you have an elder or a sister to deliver. They give you a sticky note/post-it in the correct color and have you pull in to the circle drive. Before you can get your car in park, there is an escort missionary trying to open your doors and unload the luggage. I wish I could remember Sister Rivers' (Cheyenne) escorts name but I had other things on my mind like "this is seriously happening right now" and you feel a little - well I don't know how to describe it. I kind of felt like I was watching someone else.
I will try my best to keep this blog updated on weekly basis with pictures and letters.
